What changed
Eversource sets its Last Resort Service supply price month by month. October 2026 sits near the low point of the season, and December is more than double. Supply rates from Eversource's rate sheet, in cents per kWh:
| Rate class | October 2026 | November 2026 | December 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rates 41, 55, 56 and EV-L (500 kW or more), on-peak | 8.765 | 11.271 | 20.601 |
| Rates 41, 55, 56 and EV-L (500 kW or more), off-peak | 8.257 | 10.287 | 19.910 |
| Rate 39 | 8.390 | 10.536 | 20.091 |
December against October: 20.601 ÷ 8.765 = 2.35 times on-peak, 19.910 ÷ 8.257 = 2.41 times off-peak, and 20.091 ÷ 8.390 = 2.39 times on Rate 39.
Standard Service is fixed for July through December 2026. For Rates 18, 29, 30, 35, 40, 115 and EV-S it is 11.229 cents per kWh, down from 11.774 for January through June: 0.545 cents, or 4.6% lower.
Who it affects
- Last Resort Service: the rate classes listed above that buy supply from Eversource rather than a third-party supplier.
- Standard Service: the business and general service classes listed above.
- Multifamily and HOA common areas: Eversource bills apartment common areas on residential Rate 1 where residential use is over half of the metered energy, and on a business rate otherwise. The rate number on your bill tells you which applies.
- Accounts on a third-party supply contract pay their contract price instead, but still pay Eversource's delivery charges.
What it means for on-site energy
- These are supply (generation) prices only. Delivery charges, including demand charges, are billed separately and are not covered in this note.
- On a month-by-month price, the value of every kilowatt-hour you do not buy from the grid moves with the month. Of the months on Eversource's sheet (August to December), December is the highest.
- A battery's case on a large account usually rests on demand charges, which sit on the delivery side of the bill. The supply price is a separate line.
- If your account is on Last Resort Service, compare a fixed-price supply offer before the winter months. This is a pricing decision, separate from any on-site project.
What to check on your own bill
- The rate number (for example Rate 30, 35, 39 or 56).
- Whether the supply line says Standard Service, Last Resort Service or a third-party supplier.
- On Rates 41, 55, 56 and EV-L, how much of your use falls on-peak.
